Solar Air-Conditioning
Climasol Absorption Chillers
The Climasol Absorption Chillers are specifically manufactured to the Sole S.A Design. Unlike conventional chiller units that require the heating media to be above 90ºC the Sole S.A units are manufactured to a patent design that only requires 65ºC as the heating media.
This dramatically changes a number of factors.
- The chiller unites use less energy (Fuel)
- The solar collector field produces more energy over the daylight period
- The collector field is smaller since it only has to produce 65ºC of water temperature
- The plant becomes more efficient as the ambient temperatures increase
- The chiller units last longer since they are operating at a lower temperature
- The Climasol Tinox collector is rated to be one of the most efficient flat plate collectors in the world, producing more energy than the vacuum tube collectors when the temperatures are above 14ºC
Sole S.A designed this technology and between 1999 - 2002 installed five solar plants through out the world and in 2003-2004 four new systems will be completed one of which is at the new Athens Olympic Stadium. There is no other company with this technology and experience.
Why Solar Airconditioning?
The above graph shows the peak load requirements of a solar air-conditioning system throughout the year. Utilizing the solar plant throughout the year is the most cost effective method for a return on the added investment. During the cooler months the solar plant provides virtually (if not) all the energy to cool or heat the building. The system provides 20 to 30% of the energy based upon the yearly requirement.
There are other major savings on the solar system in comparison to conventional electrical chiller units, through maintenance costs. The solar plant and Climasol Absorption chiller unit has virtually no moving parts, keeping costs to a minimum.
The graph below shows how much energy is saved using the Climasol Solar Air-Conditioning plant over a one year period. To run the 2,400,000 BTU plant only requires approximately 15 Kw/hr. Its virtually FREE cooling!
The return on the initial investment is between 4 1/2 - 5 years for the 700 Kw plant. This depends upon the cost of electricity in different countries but on average, there is a return on your capital investment of 20% Minimum. This does not take into consideration the cost of a conventional chiller unit. If this is deducted from the solar system, the return on the added expenditure is within 2.5 - 3 years. No need to run large over head power cables. We can run our plants with a small generator, installing the system miles from the nearest mains grid power supply. Not Only do we save you money, YOU protect the environment and the future for all.
These are the hidden savings that can't be calculated.
- Pollution causes medical problems. Solar energy does not pollute.
- Our systems should have a minimum life-span of 20 years. How many standard water heaters or air-conditioning units will be required during that time?
- No need to run large power cables that provide the energy for conventional systems.
- TWO IN ONE. Our plants provide hot water, this can be used for any purpose. Not only to heat the household water but also heat the swimming pool, using the same plant. The Air-conditioning plant produces chilled water, this can be used to cool a swimming pool too.
- The large hot water plants and air-conditioning systems have minimal moving parts and are designed for extreme environmental conditions. There is nothing to break or wear out.
- For the larger projects, we can install the solar collectors as a shade for car parking or part of the roofing on a building.
